Military Reciprocity FAQ
How long does it take?
Kansas law requires a decision within 15 days of a complete application — most applicants elsewhere wait up to 45 days.
What will it cost me?
Nothing. Military spouses are exempt from every fee tied to a Kansas occupational license — application, renewal, and background checks included.
Who qualifies for expedited reciprocity?
Active military service members, including National Guard and Reservist, honorably discharged veterans (Honorable or General Under Honorable Conditions), and their spouses all qualify — your servicemember doesn't need to be currently active for you to qualify as a military spouse.
Does my military experience count?
Yes. Kansas boards are required to credit relevant military training and work experience toward the state's education requirements.
What do I need to apply?
A current license in good standing from another state, in a substantially similar profession — most boards also look for at least a year of related work experience.
